So, I would like to discuss mechanics but remember I'm coming from the perspective of hearing about & watching video of the game
Main negative I'm hearing is that it's very repetitive doing the base mechanics of the game, running around shooting the Carbon/Iron/plutonium out of stuff. From watching I get the feeling it would be much more engaging if each planet had different types of life forms & each ecosystem required you to experiment & discover what you needed to get Carbon out of yourself. Now this would of course require lots of changes to other systems, starting obviously with a rebalanced inventory. It would also allow such changes as actually feeding meat/veg to the animals to tame rather than some massive compound names.
I feel like they simplified it in an attempt to make the focus more on exploration & less on micro management level craft. But it sounds like it would have gone a lot better if they'd balanced the resource collection to enhance & focus towards the exploration.
I really interested in the discussion around this one, but not so much in the game itself
