Cracked it open for a few hours last night.
My starting world, Dexeogenesis Terra, is a fucking iceball. -52 daytime temperature, dropping to -80 overnight. Thankfully the caves around the place are much milder (maybe volcanic, maybe just a quirk of the game because they count as “indoors”) so once I got a sense of what I was meant to be doing it wasn’t too hard to collect the resources I needed.
I’m all repaired and charged and ready to leave, but I’ve gotten sidetracked chasing down ancient alien artifacts. I don’t know if this is normal for a starting world, but this planet is lousy with them. I’m up to about a dozen words in my alien vocabulary and have scored some nice gear.
The one thing I haven’t worked out yet is how to scan and catalogue animals. I think it’s something to do with the zoom key, but I haven’t succeeded yet. One of the native species is a frankly adorable little mini-dinosaur and I want naming rights.
