Ok. So not a good deal. Here is what I posted on the EU blog re the stuff up with this:
Having the same issue as many here. In Australia we have to top up AU$150. The only options are $10, $20, $30, $40 and $80. So the only way to get to the $150 is through 3 separate transactions. After the first credit card transaction, the second said “Unable to add funds”. I managed to wrangle the second payment through PayPal, but still need the third to qualify for the deal, and neither payment methods now work.
I spoke to Sony customer support and they said that the close proximity of transactions might have triggered their temperamental security protection, and that I should try again in 3 days. Even after informing them that the deal finishes soon, the representative said that there is nothing they can do about that as they can’t release the accounts themselves. Pretty much a “sucks to be you” response from Sony as no refund can be given.
PSN Cards might be the solution, but there is no retailer here that offers them online, like Amazon in the US and UK (without paying a premium, thereby defeating the purpose). It’s either a trip to the shops, or miss out on the deal altogether.
I’ve had to phone Sony on two other issues since 2006 and it’s always a mission. Having pre-ordered Tearaway digitally on Vita, Sony messed up the digital release (took them days to sort it). They wouldn’t refund so that I could purchase a physical copy, so I had to register a complaint with the ACCC, ending up with an email exchange with Jim Ryan, whereby it was eventually sorted.
I like the products, but the customer service is woeful.
