Here I am! Jason invited me to join a week or two ago and I'd been too vague and distracted to get around to it.
For those who don't know me, I was yet another person addicted to the amazing Screen Play community. I spent so much time there and submitted so many "Your Turn" blog posts that Jason invited me to help him in an official capacity. I started out once a week on Fridays with the Split Screen byline, which expanded to twice a week.
Finally Jason retired from writing Screen play and I was very much honoured to inherit the mantle. Sadly, Fairfax decided to terminate Screen Play and roll it into the main games coverage page in mid-2014, but I still write for them twice a week.
Gaming-wise, I've backed off a bit recently. Late last year I went through an exhausting period of chain-gaming in order to get reviews out for all of the titles that were released between September and December and by January I was burnt out. I've been playing a handful of new releases, but I've mostly been playing old "comfort food" games (finished Tomb Raider reboot again last week, and it's still brilliant) and indulging in non-interactive media.
I'm a platform slut, hovering back and forth between TV-based consoles and the PC (just upgraded to a GTX 970 and OH MY GOD) and also do a lot of gaming on mobile and tablet. Recent favourites have included 80 Days, Lyne, Crossy Road, DA: Inquisition, Hand of Fate, Armello, Talos Principle, and Life is Strange.
As for life outside of gaming, I'm just your average feminist, ukulele-playing, bisexual, political, musical, Wikipedia-obsessed, roleplaying, board-gaming, polyamorous, science-loving, atheist, cinephilic, indie-loving, horror-fanatical nerd. You know, pretty stock issue.
Based in northern Melbourne and always up for some board games, particularly euros. Favourites include Eclipse, The Resistance, C.V., Lords of Waterdeep, Carcassonne (it never gets old), Puerto Rico, Race for the Galaxy, and X-Wing minis.
I have rambled enough. Hello all.
