Agree. Massive misfire. Lots of negatives. SEMI SPOILERS AHEAD SO TURN BACK NOW.
1.) They went way too far away from his origin. His original origin would have worked for this TV series because in terms of age publication history, Iron Fist isn't that old. The whole Meachum family arc fails because they have changed too much.
2.) He's a pussy and carries on like a spoilt frat boy rather than a man who has spent 15 years training to the "greatest living weapon" and someone who is control of his chi. If they are worried about making the character too powerful, bump up their nemesis, don't water them down. This exists in Earth-199999, so all the Avengers you see at the movies are supposed to exist in this reality. Act like it. Luke Cage was watered down massively which was the only real negative I could find, albeit a big one.
3.) British actors. For god's sake, can't anyone at Marvel find someone in North America to fill the roles?. Their accents are wooden AF and when they need to focus on their emotional range they revert back to their native accent. Get this shit right.
4.) To further on from point 2.....he gets punched too much. For the world's greatest martial artist, he sucks at fighting. For all the sooks out there suggesting its offensive to cast a white person as the worlds greatest martial artist I have two points. A.) You are racial profiling by suggesting only Asians can be great martial artists and B.) He's white in the comic so suck it up.
5.) Fight scenes suck. They are poorly choreographed and too infrequent. Felt like I was watching Days of Our Lives with the occasional punch on.
Iron Fist needed one of the other defenders to turn up, preferably Daredevil given the over usage of The Hand as the main protagonist. And it needed to happen as soon as Night Nurse became aware of Danny Rand, his abilities and who he was up against. They missed that opportunity. I suspect they were wanting to build his back story but this could have been hastened and Daredevil could have been bought in for a few episodes.
There is nothing good to say about this series. All the way through it felt like it was just to build up to The Defenders with The Hand as the protagonist and it just fell over the line with doing that.
Daredevil>Daredevil S2>Luke Cage>Jessica Jones>Iron Fist.
