I've been hella getting into Funhaus and Filmhaus on YouTube and I love that crew, just love 'em. So on their recommendation, Jules and I checked out John Wick and I really enjoyed it. OK, so it's not my kind of super top-tier film but for what it is, it's really entertaining. I guess I come at it from a production perspective and in that sense, there's a lot to appreciate. Keen for the second film now.
Because I'm in love with Brit Marling and her engagement in the industry above just acting, we also checked out the Netflix series The OA. Two eps in and nope. Noooope. However, some mutterings talk about Stranger Things et al in the same breaths to aaah, I dunno. Maybe you folks will like it. I should have known better than to think I'd like anything at all that's popular at the moment, but you can't deny Brit Marling and crew a paying wage.
As for my tastes, it just confirms for me that the short episodic format always wastes too much time and is still beholden to lazy writing and tired tropes.
